Courier Industry Forecast to Grow in 5 Years
The courier service industry is forecast to experience growth in the next five years, as it is named as one of the top 5 industries that will boost employment opportunities in the said period.
According to a recent report by IBISWorld, a provider of the latest industry research and statistics, this projected growth is fueled by the increasing demand for delivery services. It also identified that the online retailers and e-commerce sites are responsible for most of this progress.
“The courier pick-up and delivery services industry is forecast to grow in 2017-18, and expand further over the next five years,” James Thomson, IBISWorld senior industry analyst said in a statement.
E-Commerce Drives Courier Industry Growth
Throughout the years, more and more people are turning to online shopping – hence, the more number of online businesses that require courier services. Further, the success in food delivery services has also boosted the demand for deliveries and as a result, employment is projected to rise by 4.3 percent this year and by 3.1 percent over the next five years.
The courier industry is easily one of the trades that are labor-intensive — and with the continuing demand for experienced employees, it’s bound to provide solid employment opportunities during the five-year period.
Aside from the transport and delivery service, the industries that are predicted to post the fastest employment growth in the future include data storage services, preschool education, craft beer production and aquaculture.
